Adult Day Programs
In some cases, Adult Day Programs can be an alternative to meeting care partners' needs outside of the home if the care partner works, needs respite time, or has errands they need to make. There are a wide variety of Adult Day Programs available, from community and church programs, to private and government community programs.
Adult day services in Alabama can be found by going to: https://www.carealabama.net/list06_alabama_adult_day_care.htm
You can also visit www.seniordirectory.com - choose the Adult Day Care Category and plug in your city and state to generate the most current list. From there, you can also register your contact information for a return email or have a representative call you with additional assistance.
You may also consider reaching out to your local Area Agency on Aging, churches, or senior community centers in your area to find additional programs.

Respite for All
The Respite for All Foundation (RFA) was founded to advance the volunteer-driven respite model to improve quality of life for people who have memory loss due to dementia, while offering peace of mind and respite to their caregivers. For those with Parkinson's that are also impacted by cognitive challenges, this may be an additional option for you.
The RFA model of care is based on partnerships with faith communities that provide free space and a network of volunteers who offer community and companionship along with evidence-based activities that benefit the individuals served, their care partners and volunteers. While RFA is rooted in faith-based communities, they serve everyone without regard to religious affiliation. RFA provides the necessary resources and training to inspire and sustain new volunteer respite communities across the country.
To understand if your loved one qualified, it is important to speak directly with the Director of each program as the models vary. Some are also currently hosting a waiting list for entry.
