The Pilates method focuses on developing strong core muscles to help build strength and teach body awareness, good posture, and graceful movement. The exercises can be performed using a floor mat and a variety of equipment. Pilates can help improve flexibility and agility and may also help with back pain. Classes are often offered at fitness centers, senior centers, and community recreation centers. It is important to first speak with the Pilates instructor to learn which exercises are best for you and to let them know you have Parkinson's to see if they have any recommended modifications.
